On Thursday, July 28th my little girl, Ava, will be 14 months old. I can't believe how fast she is growing up. I want to start documenting all the little details of our days together so I can share them with Ava when she grows up.
Just a little background information about me and my little girl- I am a stay-at-home mom and have been since Ava was 4 months old. After she was born, I was out of work for 14 weeks, returned to work part-time for 1 month, then quit to stay at home full-time. It was the most difficult, yet best decision I ever made. (More on that later...)
So, where were we? Okay, the purpose of this blog is more like a baby book for me and, one day, for her. I'm not sure where to start, since we already missed 13 months, but I plan on looking back and documenting as much as I can remember during her first year of life.
However, today I'm going to post about our day. Ava woke up at 6:15am. Her daddy got her from her crib and put her in bed with me, while he took a shower and got ready for work. We watched an episode of Barney while snuggling in bed. When her daddy was ready, he took Ava downstairs to change her diaper and feed her breakfast, while I showered and got ready for the day. For breakfast Ava ate fresh fruit- raspberries, blueberries and black berries, and oatmeal with raisins. Ava does not drink milk (that is for a later post), so she drank water. Daddy left for work. I emptied the dishwasher, drank my tea and ate breakfast while Ava finished eating. (She is a very long, drawn out eater.)
After breakfast I changed Ava out of her pj's and into clothes for the day. She wore her brown capris with a white and brown polka dot tshirt with hot pink flower. We read books and played in the family room until Ava started whining, pointing at the stairs and saying up. This means she is ready for a nap, so we went upstairs and laid down in Mommy & Daddy's bed. By 8:45am she was asleep. Ava woke up at 9:30am. We went downstairs and had a snack- turkey and cream cheese roll-up.
While Ava was snacking, I packed the diaper bag and made lunch for us as we were heading to the water park at Tobay Beach. We were ready to leave at 11am. The water park is really neat- it's part playground, part water park with sprinklers and lots of water everywhere. This was the first time we went to this park, and while she loved it, she was a little young/small for it. There were a lot of older kids there (one ran right into her and knocked her on her back). I can't wait to take Ava there next year when she is older and more stable on her feet. We stayed at the park for about an hour before Ava signed "finished". We went to the car and ate our lunch in the back of the station wagon.
After lunch we headed home. I think Ava fell asleep before we even left the parking lot (around 1pm). We got home at 1:30pm and Ava woke right up. I tried to put her back to sleep, but that wasn't happening, so we played in the family room with the shape sorter and books. Then Ava had another snack of goldfish and cheese (her two favorite foods). While she was eating I started dinner- meatloaf, roasted potatoes and sauteed summer squash. After snack we played on the porch until Daddy got home around 5pm.
We ate dinner at 5:15pm, then went outside to play with the wagon and sidewalk chalk. We came in at 6:45pm for bath and pj's. Ava was so exhausted that the bath lasted not even 5 minutes. She was sound asleep by 7pm.
We had a great day! Tomorrow we are spending the day with Grammy! :)
